Sen. Ron Johnson, R-Wis., told Newsmax on Monday that he is worried after President Donald Trump over the weekend signed an order to impose stiff tariffs on imports from Mexico, Canada, and China.

“I share the market’s concerns,” Johnson said on “Wake Up America,” adding that “I want free trade around the world.”

Johnson conceded that there are some problems with international trade being carried out in a fair way and that there can be a place for tariffs as a weapon in this fight, but “in general tariffs are a tax, and when you tax something you get less of it.”
